Restoration & Cleaning

• We offer full restoration services including reweaving, reselvaging, re-fringing and any variety of hand work required to recondition your handmade rugs and kilims. In addition we provide Professional Cleaning Services for all handmade carpets & kilims.

• When a rug begins to look dirty,it should be washed as dirt and grit will,with time,become ground into the weave and slowly destroy it.Hand-woven rugs should be washed every few years as this polishes the wool,gives life to the colors and helps with general wear and tear.. 

• Spills should be attended to immediately..Use absorbent paper, such as kitchen towel, to soak up moisture, then sponge the weave with clean water, and re-absorb.

• If marks remain and the cause of the stain is known,it is easy for professionals to remove them.

• Chemical treatments- eg Scotchguarding',or any chemical solution to clean or prevent staining are not recommended for hand-woven rugs.

• General Care:

• Shedding of loose fibers is normal with new wool rugs and a natural result of being handcrafted. Shedding will diminish with regular vacuuming, usually after 3-6 months.

• Vacuum rugs on a low-power setting to prevent debris from settling into roots of the fibers. Use a vacuum cleaner without a beater brush as it may cause damage to the pile.

• Avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight.

• Do not pull loose ends.Clip them with scissors.

• Rotate rug occasionally to equalize wear.
